Plant sale to help grow hospice donations

Andi and Olivia with Ron Middleton, chief executive of Compton Hospice.

We’re busy gearing up for our plant sale at the nursery next month, which we hope is going to be as big a success as in previous years.

Boningale Nurseries normally caters only to trade customers, but once a year, we open up to the public, and offer a huge range of shrubs, perennials and trees for sale.

Half the profits from this year’s sale, which is going to be on Saturday, September 8, will be split between the nursery’ s two chosen charities – Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge and Compton Hospice in Wolverhampton.

I’ll be amongst the staff on hand on the day, which means you get the chance to discuss the plants you buy, where to plant them and how to look after them – a great bonus for those joining us on the day.

Everyone working on the day has lots of nursery experience, so feel free to talk to anyone about your gardening issues.

We’re really pleased the event will be helping support two charities who do a lot of wonderful work.

Corporate fundraiser for Compton, Simon Cater and Vicki Rowles, head of fundraising at Mary Stevens, have both said how much events like this help to raise funds, and also get people thinking about the charities themselves.

Simon said:“It is fantastic having Boningale on board with us this year and we appreciate all their hard work, both in the gardens at the hospice and in their fundraising.

“Without people like Andi and his team, we simply wouldn’t be able to continue our vital work across the region.”

Vicki added: “We know from previous years how generous Boningale Nurseries have been and the hospice really does appreciate their support.

“This is a great chance for the local community to buy their much loved plants right from the source whilst supporting the work of their local hospice.”

The plant sale will be open from 8.30am to 4pm on Saturday, September 8, so feel free to join us. We’ll have some fantastic bargains!
