Not just the leaves that are gold at Autumn Show!

I am thrilled to say our hard work really paid off at the Malvern Autumn show – we came away with a Gold Medal and Best in Show! Here’s our latest press release all about it:

Two Midlands garden businesses who joined forces to showcase their work at the Malvern Autumn Show came away with a Gold Medal and Best in Show award after impressing judges with their courtyard garden.

Olivia Kirk, of Olivia Kirk Gardens, in Worcestershire and Andi Way of Boningale Garden Creations, based in Shropshire, have worked together on many projects previously, but this was the first time the two businesses had collaborated for a show.

They designed and built the English Courtyard Garden at the autumn show to show-case their award-winning skills in design and build, and highlight the quality of materials and plants the businesses have access to.

As Garden Creations is based at Boningale wholesale nursery in Albrighton – which has supplied the  landscaping industry for more than 50 years – the designers have the advantage of accessing a large range of specialist plants, such as the carpinus betulus screening used in the courtyard garden, which is purpose-grown at the nursery.

The courtyard was designed by Mrs Kirk, a Chelsea Gold Medal winner, whilst Andi, who has twice won gold at Shrewsbury Flower Show, was responsible for its construction.  The two first met when they trained together at Pershore College, and have since teamed up successfully on a number of larger projects.

“It is always an honour to receive accolades for your work, but it is particularly satisfying to receive them at this level,” said Mr Way.

“I think our success stems from the way our businesses so perfectly complement each other – Olivia’s award-winning design skills combine so well and seamlessly with our expertise in construction and sourcing the highest quality materials and plants.

“As partners, our shared aim is to always exceed the expectations of our customers, and create their dream gardens, and we completed the project at Malvern with the same mind-set, which obviously helped us to win these two prestigious awards.”

Mrs Kirk added: “’We had lots of lovely comments about the garden, people loved the innovative way we had used everyday landscaping materials as well as the quality of the planting.

“The mature Carpinus hedging units and large Buxus sempervirens balls at the front of the garden particularly impressed people who wanted some instant maturity in their new gardens.”

Following their awards, both Olivia Kirk Gardens and Boningale Garden Creations were invited by the show organisers to attend the Malvern Spring Show next year.
